About us
Gracie Barra Plymouth’s Head instructor is Tom Barlow. Tom has been training martial arts since he was 18, and teaching since he was 22. In that time he trained in many different styles but found he enjoyed training in grappling and wrestling the most.
He begin training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Braulio Estima in 2006. At the same time he established Gracie Barra Plymouth as a place to train and teach Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
He has quickly progressed through the ranks and was awarded his Brown Belt in December 2008.
Along the way he has competed in and won many major tournaments in both Jiu Jitsu and Submission Wrestling.

As well as representing Great Britain on two occasions, Tom has also
competed in pro Mixed Martial Arts achieving a record of 3-1-0.
However Jiu Jitsu is still his main passion, which sees him training and teaching daily.
