March BJJ Curriculum | Jiu Jitsu Plymouth | 30 Days Free

In this month’s Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes at GB Plymouth will be focusing on Side Control Attacks. Side control is one of the most dominate positions in BJJ or MMA, but it can be difficult position to control. With out good control you’ll struggle to transition to a better position or submit your opponent.

The first week of this month’s Jiu Jitsu Curriculum is dedicated to understanding how to control you opponent. We will be working some specific drills and techniques we’ve develop that will super-charge you side control dominace.

From there we will be focusing on transitions and submissions from Side Control. Check out March’s Curriculum below;

Countering Common Escapes

1. Going to Guard
a) blocking the hip and turning back over
b) switch to reverse scarf
c) low control
d) kick out – if they get the knee inside
2. Hip Escape
a) control the far arm or lapel and pull back to side control
3. Single Leg
a) switch to opposite side
4. Y Escape
a) switch hips and base out on your head

Transitions

1. Knee Mount
2. Mount
3. Back – turn away
4. Back Rolling

Attacks
1. Far Arm
a) fig-4
b) Striaght arm bar
c) Kimura
d) arm triangle
e) spinning arm bar

2. Lapel attacks
a) Kimura
b) Eziekel
c) Triangle
